HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A SWEDISH (SOFT TOUCH) MASSAGE?

Light touch massage therapy, soft touch massage is similar in style to qigong or lymphatic drainage massage. It is designed to use fingertip touch and very gentle pinching to stimulate the body's energy points, improve blood circulation and the natural flow of energy around the body.

DO I NEED TO BE COMPLETELY DISROBED?

This question is frequently asked and there are a few way that this will be answered. During every massage session, you will be completely covered/draped with a sheet and blanket. The only part of the body that will ever be exposed/uncovered is the part that is being worked on.

If you are receiving a full body massage, then it is suggested that you remove all upper and lower clothing articles (you can choose to leave undergarments on or off). Again - you will be covered and nothing will be exposed.

If you are receiving a massage on your legs only, if it suggested the you remove pants/shorts(you can choose to leave underwear on or off) and you can leave your shirts/tops on. Again - you will be covered and nothing will be exposed.

If you are receiving a massage on your upper part of your body, example such as you shoulders, upper back or back, it is suggested that you remove your shirt/tops/bra in order to work the required areas of concern effectively and efficiently and you can leave your pants/shorts on. Again - you will be covered and nothing will be exposed.

If you are coming if for a Sciatica Nerve Treatment, it is suggested that you remove your top/shirt as well as pants/shirts and undergarments for the treatment requires your glutes to be worked on. Again you will be covered and only the areas that are being worked on will be exposed.

If you are coming in for Carpal Tunnel Treatment - you will be requested to wear a sleeves shirt/tank top and you do not need to disrobe nor covered by a sheet for you will have clothing on

SHOULD I SHOWER BEFORE MY VISIT?

It is not recommended to take a shower within the hour of your massage session. It is advised that if you need to shower, that you shower 2 hours before and/or 2 hours after your massage session for the surface of your skin will have increased blood circulation, which after a massage can lead to surface congestion

Taking a shower before your massage is a always a good idea. You should rinse off chlorine, perspiration or environmental pollutants before your treatment or therapy, because you don't want all that to be rubbed into your skin.

SHOULD I WAX AND/OR SHAVE BEFORE MY VISIT?

Shaving is recommended BUT NOT REQUIRED but please if you choose to shave, be sure to do so no less than four hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Certain products may irritate newly-shaven skin

CAN I DRINK ALCOHOL  AND/OR SMOKE BEFORE AND/OR AFTER MY MASSAGE?

Not technically... Keep in mind that the effects of a massage can last easily from 12 to 24 hours, and drinking will decrease the efficacy of the massage. At the same time you aren't going to get drunk faster or feel better if you drink after a massage. Smoking is not recommended prior to your massage

The Truth in the matter is.... drinking water after a massage is important and reduces soreness. .. one should never drink alcohol or smoke after getting a massage because receiving a massage increases ones' blood circulation and alcohol and nicotine have a stronger non positive effect after a session.

CAN SOMEONE FEEL SICK AFTER A MASSAGE?

YES - If your body is dehydrated it causes your liver and kidneys to work harder. You may experience a feeling of nausea, headache or flu-like symptoms as your body struggles to process the increased amount of metabolic waste.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER I RECEIVE A MASSAGE?

Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water before and after your massage.

Stretch it out. Following your massage, do a few gentle stretches on your own.

Heat therapy. Warm your body up to promote relaxation. ...

Essential oils.

Topical treatment.

Herbal relief.

Rest.

Guided meditation.

WHY AM I SO TIRED AFTER A MASSAGE?

Naturally, your muscles are going to feel some soreness after a massage, since this penetrates the uppermost layers of muscle. Muscles will then feel relaxed, potentially causing fatigue or muscle aches.

WHY DO I FEEL SICK/BAD AFTER A MASSAGE?

Since massage increases the flow of the lymph fluid, the fluid pushes these stagnant toxins through the system, causing the symptoms of detox or sickness to rear their ugly heads. Water helps to flush these toxins from your body, so you are less likely to feel the effects.

CAN A MASSAGE RELEASE EMOTIONS?

Most people who receive massage regularly report feeling relief, a sense of peace or increased relaxation. However, some people may also experience a sudden rush of powerful emotion while receiving bodywork. Whether it is grief, euphoria, anger, fear or sadness, the phenomenon is known as an emotional release.

DOES A MASSAGE RELEASE TRAUMA?

Massage therapy, the manual manipulation of soft body tissue to promote health and well-being, can provide relief from physical, emotional, and mental stress, and decrease levels of depression, anxiety, irritability, and other symptoms associated with trauma exposure

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A MASSAGE ?

Actually, you can get massaged too frequently. Once a week is the most you should go unless you are dealing with pain or high-intensity sports. Between you and your therapist, you'll be able to determine the best frequency because your body's response is a large part of this determination
